Bitget expands institutional-level custody and over-the-counter settlement infrastructure, supporting diverse custody and settlement models

As the institutional market gradually develops towards the separation of custody and trading, Bitget is expanding its open custody and over-the-counter settlement infrastructure for institutional clients, providing more flexible asset custody, fund management, and trading access options.Currently, Bitget has partnered with institutions such as Copper ClearLoop, Cactus Custody Oasis, Fireblocks Off Exchange, OSL MirrorEX, Bitfire PrimeMirror, and Sygnum Protect to meet the differentiated needs of institutions in asset isolation, custody options, settlement efficiency, and liquidity access through diversified custody and settlement models.Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen stated that different types of institutions have varying needs for custody, settlement, and capital management. Bitget aims to allow institutions to choose solutions based on their operational models through open and compatible infrastructure, enhancing fund utilization efficiency and liquidity access capabilities while achieving asset risk isolation. This expansion is also an important part of Bitget's UEX strategy, with institutional services continuing to be a strategic focus to further enhance capital utilization efficiency and accelerate the integration of crypto assets with tokenized traditional financial infrastructure.

first_img Taurus Lianchuang: Banks need to build a three-layer infrastructure to access the Swift blockchain ledger

Lamine Brahimi, co-founder and managing partner of the cryptocurrency custody and tokenization company Taurus, stated in an interview with CoinDesk that banks need to meet three conditions to access the newly launched blockchain ledger by Swift: a proprietary permissioned chain that interacts with the Swift ledger, wallet capabilities, and tokenization and smart contract capabilities to integrate Swift's smart contracts. He pointed out that this means the Swift ledger is not a replacement for banks' internal systems, but rather acts as an orchestration layer, helping institutions achieve cross-border, round-the-clock transfers of tokenized deposits, with final settlement still completed through existing arrangements. Banks still need to hold and manage tokenized deposits, digital asset wallets, and related smart contracts themselves. In July, Swift announced that 17 banks were preparing for real-time transactions of tokenized deposits; in August, HSBC and Standard Chartered completed the first real-time interbank transaction, followed by DBS and Citibank completing weekend cross-border USD payments, reducing settlement time from a maximum of two business days to just a few minutes.Brahimi stated that additional infrastructure should not be seen as a flaw in Swift's design; the ledger is still an early product but provides banks with a choice between existing payment channels and tokenized deposits that can circulate around the clock. Taurus announced in August that it had completed Swift integration, providing the aforementioned three layers of capability through a single platform. He added that tokenized deposits were used very little before Swift's announcement, primarily adopted by larger global banks like JPMorgan. The Swift model retains deposits on the banks' balance sheets, distinguishing it from stablecoins issued outside the banking system.

first_img Hyperliquid Policy Center CEO: All exchanges will adopt public chain infrastructure

Hyperliquid Policy Center CEO Jake Chervinsky stated at the Digital Asset Summit 2026 Asia in Singapore that "every exchange," including CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), will adopt public chain infrastructure in the next decade to remain competitive. He emphasized that Hyperliquid is not an exchange but an infrastructure available for different participants, comparing it to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, arguing that there is no reason for public chains to register as exchanges.Chervinsky mentioned that Hyperliquid does not intend to compete with Kalshi, Coinbase, Robinhood, and CME, but rather exists on the next layer of the tech stack, which these institutions can use to improve their products. He anticipates that in ten years, whether it is crypto-native exchanges like Kraken and Coinbase or traditional exchanges like ICE and CME, they will need to integrate this technology to compete. He also pointed out that, aside from regulated perpetual contracts, on-chain markets need to come under U.S. regulatory oversight, which he expects to happen "in the near future."This statement comes in the context of Payward announcing in September plans to deploy a licensed perpetual contract market on Hyperliquid for U.S. customers, with Bitnomial, regulated by the CFTC, responsible for creation and clearing. Previously, Trump announced that the CFTC would compliantly introduce Hyperliquid to the U.S.

first_img BNY is in talks with Kraken's parent company Payward for infrastructure cooperation

According to CoinDesk, informed sources revealed that the custody bank giant BNY is in talks with Payward, the parent company of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, for a broad collaboration covering digital assets and financial market infrastructure. The potential agreement may involve areas such as crypto products, custody, wealth management, trading, payments, and infrastructure, with related services provided through Payward Services, which targets banks, exchanges, and asset management institutions. One source indicated that part of the proposed collaboration may be similar to the infrastructure component of the recent agreement Payward reached with Nasdaq. Negotiations are still ongoing, and there is no guarantee that an agreement will be reached; both Payward and BNY declined to comment. BNY, formerly known as Bank of New York Mellon, provides custody, asset services, clearing, and wealth management services to institutional clients and has been developing tokenized deposits to support near real-time on-chain settlements among institutional market participants.Reaching an agreement with BNY would further promote Payward's efforts to connect digital asset businesses with traditional financial institutions. Last month, Nasdaq Ventures agreed to invest $100 million in Payward at a valuation of $21 billion, expanding the collaboration between the two parties in tokenized stocks. Under the agreement, both parties will continue to develop the operational and commercial infrastructure for Nasdaq stock tokens, and Payward will also adopt Nasdaq's market surveillance technology in its cryptocurrency, stock, tokenized stock, futures, and options trading venues, with both parties expecting to launch Nasdaq stock tokens in the second quarter of 2027.

first_img MetaMask Staking exits Lido validator due to infrastructure investigation

The liquidity staking protocol Lido announced that MetaMask Staking (formerly Consensys Staking) has taken precautionary measures to protect customer assets related to its Ethereum validators after investigating an infrastructure breach incident. The related measures include withdrawing its Ethereum validators from the Lido protocol, which may result in some loss of rewards. If the validators go offline recently to reduce potential network slashing risks, it may also incur downtime penalties.Lido stated that the related validators have begun to withdraw, with the last batch expected to complete the withdrawal by October 7, 2026, but full withdrawals may not be completed by then. stETH holders do not need to take any action. The ETH withdrawn from the validators operated by MetaMask Staking is expected to gradually return to the protocol during the cycle of the validators completing the withdrawal, withdrawing, and re-entering, with the estimated maximum duration of this process being about 45 days due to extended queuing times.Lido reminds that staking operations are non-custodial, and MetaMask does not manage withdrawal keys on behalf of customers. The diversified node operators of the Lido protocol and other security mechanisms, including a temporary reserve of over 6,750 stETH, are designed to control and mitigate disruptions to the normal operation of the protocol. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be announced separately.
