l1

L1 refers to the first layer protocol in blockchain technology, which is the foundational layer protocol, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. These protocols are responsible for processing and verifying transactions, providing security and decentralized infrastructure. L1 typically has its own independent consensus mechanism and network architecture, serving as the foundation for other applications and protocols. Its performance and scalability directly impact the development of the entire blockchain ecosystem.

CoinGecko: Gate's spot TOP30 trading pairs lead in L1 depth share, with multiple indicators such as BTC, ETH, SOL, and DOGE performing outstandingly

According to the latest market analysis released by CoinGecko, based on order book data from August 25 to September 7, 2026, Gate ranks among the top platforms in the mainstream spot TOP30 trading pairs Top-of-Book (L1) depth share, and holds the first position in several mainstream assets.Among the 30 trading pairs tracked, Gate maintains a lead in 7, including BTC (27.3%), ETH (37.5%), XRP (39.2%), BNB (40.4%), DOGE (35.6%), NEAR (42.19%), and USD1 (38.07%). Under the 1% depth metric, Gate ranks first in 15 of the 30 trading pairs; in terms of coverage, Gate ranks in the top two for 28 trading pairs, demonstrating the broadest liquidity coverage. From a liquidity metric closer to market prices, Gate also shows strong order acceptance capability. The spot L1 depth for BTC, ETH, XRP, and DOGE remained leading during the observation period; in the contract market, Gate's BTC perpetual and ETH perpetual L1 depth maintained a leading position throughout the observation period, with SOL and DOGE perpetual contracts also ranking high.In terms of tokenized assets, Gate's SKHYNIX perpetual contract L1 depth ranked first throughout the observation period and significantly ahead. CoinGecko points out that compared to trading volume, order book depth better reflects actual trading execution capability and potential slippage. As market participants' attention to trading execution quality continues to rise, Gate continues to strengthen liquidity construction in both the spot and contract markets, maintaining strong market depth in core assets such as BTC, ETH, DOGE, and SOL, providing ample liquidity support for trades of various sizes.

first_img Arbitrum advances ZK settlement, L1 withdrawals are expected to be shortened from several days to several hours

The Arbitrum development team stated that they are introducing zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs into the Arbitrum platform to achieve a multi-proof settlement model. Through ZK proofs, the settlement time of Arbitrum blocks to Ethereum L1 is expected to be reduced from several days to several hours, while enhancing user, cross-chain bridge, and protocol capital efficiency, and maintaining security through the multi-proof mechanism. Related capabilities are aimed at Arbitrum One and dedicated chains based on the Arbitrum platform. Offchain will subsequently submit upgrade proposals to the DAO.Current progress includes: the ability to run the same state transition functions in SP1 zkVM as in optimistic execution, generating ZK proofs for real mainnet block production; Stylus's WASM contracts can be proven alongside Solidity contracts; the team has launched an independent Rust verifier, making ZK proofs a first-class mode alongside standard verification; the BoLD settlement protocol has supported the acceptance of ZK proofs and is endorsed by a fast confirmation committee, while the original dispute games still serve as a fallback path, forming a multi-proof architecture that coordinates ZK proofs, proof committees, and fraud proofs. The team claims to be continuously reducing proof costs and will gradually merge related code into the Nitro main production path. The next steps include further optimizing proofs and shifting to Reth-based execution, completing L1 message inbox proofs, and integrating ZK settlement capabilities into node configurations for on-demand activation across chains.
