Zhao Changpeng: Binance's Greek MiCA license application was close to approval but was forced to withdraw due to external factors

According to The Block, Binance founder Zhao Changpeng stated that the MiCA license application submitted by Binance in Greece fully complied with regulatory requirements and was close to approval before being withdrawn, but ultimately the process was interrupted due to "external political factors."In an interview, Zhao Changpeng mentioned that several countries within the EU had expressed interest in the license, and there was even a certain degree of "competitive pursuit," but the regulatory progress was ultimately affected by non-regulatory factors, forcing the application to be withdrawn. Binance officially withdrew its application in Greece last week and stated that it would turn to other EU member states to continue pursuing MiCA authorization. In response to market rumors regarding his connections with high-level EU politicians, Zhao Changpeng stated that he had not seen any verifiable documents and only saw similar claims online, which he did not confirm. Zhao Changpeng also pointed out that the EU MiCA transition period will officially end on July 1, at which time platforms that have not obtained licenses must cease related services. Regulatory agencies in various countries have made it clear that they will not postpone enforcement, and they evaluate this outcome as a "lose-lose situation," using the regulatory processes in Japan and Singapore as examples to emphasize that compliance processes often require a longer period.Additionally, when discussing Strategy's STRC preferred stock product, Zhao Changpeng stated that its structure is "too complex" and expressed difficulty in fully understanding its mechanism, but emphasized that he does not comment on the credibility of its founder Michael Saylor, considering him a "staunch supporter of Bitcoin."

first_img The expansion of the head encryption VC investment landscape extends to cutting-edge technology sectors such as AI and robotics

According to The Block, influenced by the maturation of the crypto market and the rapid development of emerging technologies, several leading crypto venture capital firms are shifting their investment focus from the pure crypto sector to a broader "frontier technology" track, involving AI, robotics, fintech, and biotechnology. It is reported that Framework Ventures and Haun Ventures have recently raised $400 million and $1 billion funds respectively to support cross-domain layouts; Paradigm is planning to raise up to $1.5 billion for a frontier technology fund; and the former Binance incubator YZi Labs has also ventured into the fields of AI and biotechnology.Industry investors analyze that the core reasons for this strategic shift are the demand for capital deployment brought about by the expansion of fund sizes, the decrease in high-quality pure crypto projects, and the increasing integration of adjacent technologies such as blockchain and AI. Some venture capitalists predict that as cryptocurrencies gradually integrate into a broader technology ecosystem, the exclusive label of "crypto VC" may gradually fade, and the market will ultimately differentiate into large multi-strategy investment funds and a few vertical investors focused on digital assets. However, some institutions like a16z Crypto and Dragonfly still insist on deepening their investment strategies in the pure crypto sector.

OpenAI has launched the next generation GPT-5.6 series models, currently available only to trusted partners using Codex and the API

According to official news, OpenAI has officially launched the preview version of the next-generation GPT-5.6 series models, including the flagship model Sol, the balanced model Terra, and the fast low-cost model Luna. GPT-5.6 introduces a brand new maximum reasoning effort and features a super strong mode that accelerates complex tasks through sub-agents.The flagship model Sol introduces the Ultra mode, which combines maximum reasoning intensity with sub-agent collaboration. In the Terminal-Bench 2.1 command line workflow test, Sol achieved a score of 88.8%, which increased to 91.9% in Ultra mode, surpassing GPT-5.5's 83.4% and Claude Fable 5's 88.0%. The mid-range model Terra performs close to GPT-5.5 while being priced at half, and the lightest model Luna is designed specifically for everyday automation tasks. Sol is priced at $5 per million input tokens and $30 for output, and it supports reducing secondary call costs by utilizing prompt caching. In terms of security, the security assessment confirmed that Sol did not exceed the critical thresholds of the Preparedness Framework cybersecurity. OpenAI has invested over 700,000 A100 equivalent GPU hours in automated red team exercises, equipping the entire series of models with a defense stack that includes rejection mechanisms, real-time abuse classifiers, and account-level audits. Although the current limited release follows the U.S. government's security framework, OpenAI emphasizes that it does not want a government-led access mechanism to become the long-term default model, as it would limit defenders' access to cutting-edge tools.

Ansem: Pessimism has reached an extreme, and the current entry point for Bitcoin is a good trading opportunity

Crypto KOL Ansem reiterated the long-term investment logic of Bitcoin, stating that despite previously holding a bearish stance, the current price level presents a good buying opportunity. He pointed out that the core narrative of Bitcoin as the hardest currency remains unchanged—it's not subject to government seizure, can be transferred across borders instantly, and is not affected by the long-term depreciation of the dollar, making it an ideal vehicle for long-term wealth storage. The performance of gold outpacing Bitcoin between 2024 and 2025 temporarily undermined the "digital gold" narrative, but he believes that as long as price momentum rebounds, market confidence can be restored. On a macro level, Ansem believes that with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the expected easing of inflationary pressures, the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance may be nearing its peak, at which point both Waller and the Federal Reserve will have room to cut interest rates rather than continue raising them; the strength of the dollar and rising interest rates exert pressure on gold, but if profits from AI stocks flow into real estate, cash, and long-term value storage assets, both gold and Bitcoin will benefit; institutional investors like Paul Tudor Jones still show interest in Bitcoin.Previously, Ansem candidly admitted to being bearish on Bitcoin due to Saylor's (founder of Strategy) position risk, once believing that $60,000 would be hard to maintain, but he stated he is now responding to buy signals. He noted that the current price action has priced in the worst-case scenario of Saylor being forced to sell, and even if he truly needs to sell, it would not happen for at least six months. He concluded that Bitcoin is currently at the intersection of long-term historical support levels and the most pessimistic market sentiment he has observed, making entry at the beginning of Q3 a trading opportunity worth paying attention to.
