SemiAnalysis: Changxin Storage has become the fourth largest DRAM manufacturer in the world, and will not break the super cycle of storage shortages in the short term

The semiconductor research institution SemiAnalysis has released a latest analysis indicating that Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has clearly become the world's fourth largest DRAM manufacturer. Although its production capacity and cash flow are continuously growing, the institution believes that Changxin Memory still faces multiple challenges in equipment, technology, and market, and will not end the current storage "super cycle" in the short term.In terms of specific challenges, export controls on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment (such as EUV, advanced etching, and TSV tools) severely restrict Changxin's expansion into more advanced processes and high bandwidth memory (HBM) fields; although domestic equipment (such as Zhongwei Company, Northern Huachuang, etc.) has alleviated some pressure, it cannot fully resolve the integration and yield bottlenecks across multiple process links, resulting in its technology still lagging behind leading manufacturers by several generations. Additionally, Changxin's market share is currently still highly concentrated in the Chinese domestic market, with global expansion limited by geopolitical factors and customers' willingness to diversify their supply chains. In response to market concerns that Changxin might "impact the global market with cheap chips," SemiAnalysis clarified that there is currently a severe structural shortage in the DRAM market, and the increase in Changxin's production capacity may even struggle to fully meet domestic demand in China. In fact, the prices of Chinese memory chips are also soaring significantly, in line with the global upward trend, and Changxin is similarly a beneficiary of the shortage premium. Therefore, Changxin Memory should be viewed as a long-term structural competitive force, and in the current context of accelerated AI demand and constrained supply, it cannot shake the fundamental super cycle dominated by leading manufacturers in the short term.

Aave founder responds to rumors of Payward acquisition, will not sell AAVE at a 70% discount

Aave founder Stani Kulechov responded to reports regarding Kraken's parent company Payward's intention to acquire a 15% stake in the Aave protocol, stating that AAVE "cannot be sold at a 70% discount." Previously, CoinDesk reported that Payward was negotiating to acquire a 15% stake in Aave at a valuation of $385 million. Based on this valuation, it would only correspond to about 30% of the fully diluted valuation of AAVE tokens, which is significantly lower than the market valuation.Kulechov stated on X that the reports were not accurate. He did not completely deny that Aave Labs might sell some of its held AAVE tokens, but he mentioned that Aave Labs does indeed hold a certain amount of AAVE and that several market participants have discussed purchasing through direct or indirect means or engaging in deeper cooperation around long-term partnerships. Aave is the largest decentralized lending protocol in the Ethereum ecosystem. Kulechov stated that Aave currently has an annual revenue of approximately $134 million, with the related revenue flowing to Aave DAO. He had previously proposed a governance plan to redirect Aave Labs, protocol, and product revenues to Aave DAO and token holders. At the time of this rumor, Aave was experiencing some pressure. After the Kelp DAO incident in April, Aave's TVL significantly declined. Although Aave itself was not directly attacked, the KelpDAO cross-chain bridge attackers had used Aave to convert the stolen rsETH into other assets.

first_img Survey: More than half of British wealth advisors say clients' cryptocurrency assets are not within their management scope, mainly due to company policy restrictions

According to The Block, a survey by CoinShares of 261 wealth management professionals in Europe shows that 52% of UK wealth advisors indicate that most of their clients' crypto asset exposure is outside their management scope (with a management gap exceeding 50%), while the overall percentage in Europe is one-quarter.The report points out that this "management blind spot" is primarily driven by company policies rather than a lack of advisor knowledge or client demand. In companies with explicit restrictions or a lack of internal guidance, the proportion of advisors actively recommending crypto assets is only 1%, while the management gap reaches 34%; in contrast, in companies with clear support, the recommendation rate is 48%, and the management gap is only 4%.The survey also found that the changes advisors most want to see are regulatory recognition of digital assets as a mainstream asset class (45%) and access to exchange-traded products (ETPs) (43%), rather than purely educational training.Currently, the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has proposed allowing authorized funds to hold up to 10% in crypto ETPs, and the European regulatory environment is gradually shifting towards support, which may help narrow this management gap.

Reuters: Binance says it will not exit Europe and will seek other EU operating licenses

According to a report by Reuters, Binance's head for Europe and the UK, Gillian Lynch, stated that despite setbacks in its attempt to apply for a European Union cryptocurrency operating license in Greece, Binance still plans to remain in the EU and will seek to obtain local operating permits again.Lynch said, "Binance will not leave Europe." She mentioned that Binance may just need to obtain authorization through different paths, and if not in Greece, the company will look for other alternatives. Binance currently has only one week left before its existing European operating license expires, and if it cannot obtain a new license, it may need to gradually shut down its EU operations. Two informed sources said that Binance had communicated with regulators in Ireland, Latvia, and Greece, but faced resistance in all three countries. The sources indicated that regulatory officials were concerned about Binance's past penalties related to money laundering issues, its complex international structure, and what they perceive as a risk-seeking culture. Lynch stated that Binance is unclear why it was not approved, as it previously believed that the Greek regulators planned to issue licenses. She also mentioned that Binance has contacted four or five regulatory agencies but only submitted a formal application to Greece. Regarding Binance's past issues, Lynch stated that the company has invested in compliance and internal controls, hiring about 1,500 compliance personnel, and claimed that there are no unresolved issues with its license application.
