Vitalik: The current roadmap of Ethereum adds directions such as enhanced privacy, post-quantum scalability, and native Rollups

Vitalik Buterin stated that he has compared the 2023 Ethereum roadmap with the current Strawmap, and while there is still a high degree of overlap in the overall direction, some priorities and technical paths have been clearly adjusted. This includes elevating the priority of quantum security, downplaying VDF and certain EVM improvements, and replacing old designs with unified binary trees, PBT, new state types, and other solutions.He pointed out that the most significant change in the current Strawmap is the emergence of several new topics not included in the 2023 roadmap, reflecting a shift in the focus of Ethereum's development. These new focal points include: stronger native privacy support, aggressive scaling in a post-quantum context, streamlined specifications for formal verification, Blob and Gas futures, native Rollup, and a more open design space around the future form of EVM.Vitalik also emphasized that Ethereum's scaling approach is shifting from "broadly scaling all activities" to "designing more easily scalable dedicated mechanisms for specific high-load scenarios," and views STARK proofs and AI-accelerated formal verification as important foundations for the protocol's future. Overall, this update indicates that the Ethereum roadmap is evolving towards quantum security, privacy-first, censorship resistance, high performance, and more simplified protocol design.

Grayscale Research Director Zach Pandl stated that the global alternative asset market has grown nearly 7 times since the 2008 financial crisis, with the share of private equity, private credit, hedge funds, physical assets, and cryptocurrency in global portfolios continuing to rise. According to the data he cited, within alternative assets, private equity accounts for about 29%, hedge funds about 23%, and cryptocurrency about 13%.Zach Pandl mentioned that differences in intergenerational allocation preferences may further strengthen this trend. According to a Bank of America survey of high-net-worth individuals, investors aged 21 to 43 allocate about 53% of their assets outside of traditional stocks and bonds, while the proportion for those aged 44 and above is 26%. Zilliqa Ledger application exposes serious vulnerability, signing 5 native transactions may leak private keys

Zilliqa stated that there is a serious random number generation vulnerability in the Zilliqa Ledger application, affecting the Schnorr signatures of native non-EVM Zilliqa transactions. Attackers can recover the signer's private key from the biased temporary random numbers using only publicly available on-chain data.Any account that has signed and broadcasted about 5 or more native transactions through the Zilliqa Ledger application should be considered compromised. Since the related signatures are permanently recorded on the chain, subsequent updates to the application cannot eliminate the risk, and the affected private keys must be deactivated. EVM transactions and development tools such as zilliqa-js, gozilliqa-sdk, and pyzil are not affected.The vulnerability arises from the application selecting the wrong 32 bytes when copying the random number, retaining 8 bytes of zero padding and losing 8 bytes of entropy, resulting in each random number having a maximum of 64 bits fixed to zero. Attackers can use 5 or more affected signatures to recover the private key within seconds using ordinary hardware. Zilliqa observed suspected active exploitation on July 19 and confirmed the root cause on July 21.Zilliqa has suspended native transactions to prevent further loss of funds and is preparing a revised application with Ledger. However, the revised version cannot protect the exposed keys, and affected users should not transfer assets on their own but wait for the official announcement of a coordinated disposal plan.

USDT will return to the Bitcoin network, and UTEXO will natively issue Bitcoin version USDT through the RGB protocol

Tether is preparing to natively issue USDT on the Bitcoin network based on the RGB v0.11.1 protocol, with commercialization and distribution handled by UTEXO. This will mark the return of USDT to the Bitcoin main chain after many years since it first landed on Bitcoin via the Omni protocol in 2014. Viktor Ihnatiuk, co-founder of UTEXO, stated that the company has received support from Tether to promote the implementation of native Bitcoin USDT.The RGB protocol employs client-side validation and integrates with the Lightning Network, enabling instant, low-cost, and private transactions of USDT while inheriting the security model of Bitcoin UTXO.
