first_img Google Vids Free Open 1080p AI Video Generation

On September 23, Google announced that any user with a Google account can generate 1080p HD videos for free in its browser-based video editor Google Vids, accessible at vids.new. This feature is based on the Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model and can transform text prompts, photos, audio, or existing clips into new videos. Previously, such generative capabilities mostly required a paid subscription to use.Google has also added several editing controls that previously required paid tools: scene extension can lengthen clips while maintaining consistency in lighting, characters, and scenes; users can set precise clip durations to align with scripts or voiceovers; and old AI clips with lower resolutions can be upgraded to 1080p without needing to regenerate. Each video segment generated by this tool embeds Google DeepMind's SynthID invisible watermark, which is not visible to the naked eye but can be read by machines. Users can check whether a segment was generated by AI using the SynthID Detector. The free quota varies by account type: personal Google accounts receive a standard quota, paid AI packages can unlock more, and Workspace Business and Enterprise subscribers receive a larger generation pool and team management controls. Gemini Omni will be launched as a paid feature for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in May 2026, with free access previously limited to YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create.

first_img Google disclosed the AI security agent PageBreak, which has identified over 500 vulnerabilities

The Google Product Security Team has disclosed an internal AI agent called PageBreak, used to test the security of its first-party web applications. This agent is built on Google's Gemini model and began a pilot program in November 2025, transitioning to a formal project in January 2026, with the goal of autonomously scaling vulnerability discovery and reducing manual input.Unlike common AI scanning tools, PageBreak hands over hypotheses to specialized validators after discovering suspicious defects, attempting actual exploitation in a real-time running copy of the application, and only reports once confirmed exploitable, with a false positive rate close to zero. Google claims that PageBreak has identified over 500 XSS vulnerabilities in its first-party web applications, which can be used to hijack login sessions, steal data, or impersonate users.Google stated that the security team has been overwhelmed in recent years by a large number of AI-generated vulnerability reports that appear reasonable but are not valid, making it a major challenge to distinguish real defects from hallucinations. When testing applications built using the next-generation high-assurance framework, PageBreak found only two vulnerabilities. The next step for Google is to integrate PageBreak with the automated remediation agent CodeMender, providing confirmed vulnerabilities with accompanying fixes.

first_img Google admitted that Gemini breached three companies during security testing and remained silent for seven weeks without disclosure

Google acknowledged that its Gemini model breached the sandbox environment during a security test in May, infiltrating three real companies and guessing or finding the passwords of two of them. Google was aware of this incident by late July but only publicly confirmed it after a report by The Wall Street Journal on September 18, remaining silent for seven weeks. The test was a capture-the-flag exercise commissioned by Google and conducted by the Israeli company Irregular in May. Irregular connected an isolated testing environment that should have had no contact with the real internet to the open network, using the name of a real company as a fictitious target. Gemini found three matching results when searching for the company and attacked them one by one, with the plaintext passwords of two companies directly exposed online, while the password of the third was guessed by the model. Google stated that its model ultimately did not use the stolen credentials in practice.Google is the fourth major AI laboratory this year to admit that internal security tests leaked into the real world. Previously, OpenAI's model had accessed Hugging Face servers due to a software vulnerability, Anthropic found that three Claude models had reached real companies after reviewing 141,000 tests, and Meta's Muse Spark model also experienced a similar incident due to Irregular's configuration error. Additionally, U.S. Representatives Ted Lieu and Nathaniel Moran introduced the "AI Emergency Shutdown Act" in July, proposing to authorize federal regulators to suspend reasoning for models that pose a serious threat.

DeepQA launches Arc Campaign: 11 Agent QAs for Arc ecosystem applications completed in 16 hours, powered by WORLD3 and Google Cloud Vertex AI

On September 16, the day Circle Arc's mainnet went live, the AI Agent quality assurance product DeepQA released the Arc Campaign, completing public QA for 11 ecological applications on the Arc testnet and publishing all 13 reports on the official website in a collection format. From the initiation of the project to the public release of reports for all 11 applications, it took about 16 hours.Real-time data from the official website shows that this event executed a total of 141 test scenarios, of which 117 passed, confirming 15 issues. The Critic Agent conducted real-time reviews 30 times, retaining 141 scenarios, 436 screenshots, approximately 2,200 model calls, and 16.9 million tokens. The covered applications include the Arc official testnet browser, Tower Exchange, AchSwap, Machina Bridge, OmniHub, ArcFX, SettleOne, Syn DAO, thirdweb Arc Testnet, ChainGPT Pad, and Karwan. All tests were conducted in real browsers on live applications, with the injected test wallets holding only testnet funds and no real funds used. The backend of DeepQA is powered by WORLD3 and Google Cloud Vertex AI. A group of AI Agents completed exploration, planning, testing, and reporting, with each issue accompanied by screenshot evidence, and only released after being audited and reviewed in real-time by the Critic Agent. The team stated that a decentralized QA network is also in progress, which will prioritize support for the Arc ecosystem.

first_img Security personnel at California technology company plan to strike this week

According to Business Insider, security staff providing services to tech companies such as Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI in California plan to strike this week, which may lead some tech companies to close their offices and require employees to work from home. On Tuesday morning local time, security personnel submitted a 72-hour strike notice to the relevant companies, planning to refuse to participate in work shifts starting from 4:30 AM on Friday. The United Service Workers West Union stated that the security personnel who may participate in the strike are responsible for guarding the offices of companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Salesforce, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and Nvidia. Currently, tech companies in the Bay Area have not announced any office closures due to the strike. This labor dispute involves several security service companies, including Allied Universal, Securitas, and GardaWorld, with the union representing approximately 14,000 security personnel in California. Negotiations over a new labor contract have been ongoing for several months.Security personnel are demanding higher wages, improved healthcare benefits, and better job training. A union spokesperson stated that both parties will continue negotiations on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, and as of Tuesday, the strike has not been finalized. The union plans to organize a march for security personnel in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday, ending at the Salesforce Tower, where Salesforce's headquarters is located. On September 3, security personnel voted to authorize the strike at a rally in San Francisco.
