BIT is about to launch Hong Kong stock trading services, which will begin targeted public testing on October 5

BIT announces that the Hong Kong stock trading feature will enter internal testing starting today, with a targeted public beta launch on October 5 and trading opening on October 12. Users can directly participate in trading using stablecoins. The first phase supports full trading of all stocks on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's main board and the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), IPO subscriptions, and financing trading. Hong Kong stocks and U.S. stocks share the same account system, allowing users with a BIT U.S. stock account to directly enable Hong Kong stock trading. During the public beta period, priority experience slots will be granted to invited users; from the start of the public beta until the first month after the official launch (ending November 11), all users can enjoy zero-commission trading, zero interest and zero subscription fees for financing new shares, a HK$100 Hong Kong stock platform fee deduction card, and a Hong Kong stock L2 market data card. Specific qualifications and rules are subject to BIT's official announcement.Elio Cui, head of BIT's brokerage business, stated: "The launch of BIT's Hong Kong stock trading provides customers with a more comprehensive cross-market investment tool. As a key hub connecting domestic and foreign liquidity, the Hong Kong capital market concentrates scarce high-growth and high-dividend quality targets, making it a core channel for investors to conduct cross-regional asset allocation and share regional growth dividends. Relying on the BIT account system, investors can flexibly allocate global mainstream quality assets such as U.S. stocks, Hong Kong stocks, and digital assets, truly achieving 'one account, global allocation' investment efficiency."

According to a report by ZDNet Korea on September 28, Samsung Electronics is accelerating the construction of the first mass production line (Ph1) at the Pyeongtaek Fifth Campus (P5) and is discussing with major equipment manufacturers to move the target for Ph1 equipment installation from the originally planned third quarter of next year to the second quarter of next year. P5 is the next-generation semiconductor production base aimed to be operational by 2028, and the construction of the Ph1 cleanroom began in the third quarter of this year.Samsung Electronics had previously advanced the completion of the P5 Ph1 cleanroom, originally scheduled for early next year, by about six months, so the equipment installation is expected around the third quarter of next year. Industry insiders say that the start time for equipment installation is planned to be moved up from July to August next year to around May to June next year; others have indicated that Samsung has even proposed to deliver equipment in the first quarter of next year for temporary storage at other locations, showing a strong willingness to invest early.Discussions on the investment for the second phase of P5 (Ph2) are also progressing. Currently, Ph1 is more likely to be built as a DRAM and HBM production line, while Ph2 is more likely to be built as an advanced NAND production line, including the tenth generation (V10). Equipment industry insiders say that formal purchase orders have not yet been placed, but Samsung has discussed building Ph2 as a NAND production line with partners, and due to the long equipment delivery cycle, they are requesting to prepare relevant components in advance. Reports indicate that large global tech companies are increasing orders for high-performance DRAM and NAND for AI infrastructure, while storage companies like Samsung have limited production capacity. Samsung stated during the second quarter earnings call in July that unmet demand this year will extend into next year, and the supply shortage next year will be more severe than this year, with shortages expected to continue until 2028.

first_img The Wall Street Journal: Doomsters Long-Term Impact on Anthropic

The Wall Street Journal reported that a small group of artificial intelligence researchers is discussing how to avoid catastrophic artificial intelligence risks in a co-working space named Constellation in Berkeley, California. Sources close to the space indicated that employees from Anthropic also have office space there. The report noted that Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned this month, bringing public attention in the U.S. to the notion that "uncontrolled AI development could end humanity."The report stated that individuals in the relevant AI safety circles have been concerned about this issue for over a decade. They have honed their arguments in shared houses in the Bay Area and exchanged predictions at conferences in Berkeley and the Bahamas, discussing ideas such as purchasing remote islands, stockpiling iodine tablets, or relocating to desert electromagnetic shielding bunkers. A cocktail named "Death With Dignity" appeared on the drink menu at an event in 2022, referencing an article that suggested humanity is doomed to fail. The Wall Street Journal stated that these so-called doomsayers are among the earliest employees of OpenAI and Anthropic, both of which were founded on the principle of preventing AI dangers. They continue to exert influence, with some personnel and project funding coming from networks associated with effective altruism, including the former CEO of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried; the report noted he is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.
