first_img Tencent secretly tests AI game companion product E-Cosmic

According to the WeChat public account DuJia, Tencent is secretly testing an AI game companion product called Goose Dimension, which focuses on digital human AI partners, providing capabilities such as voice conversation, real-time image recognition, and game companionship. The product features multiple virtual characters with different personalities, including female characters Gu Yu, Shen Lu Bai, and Xia Xia, which are available for selection. After users choose a character, they can chat casually or activate the game companion mode, which DuJia claims is compatible with many mainstream online games.DuJia uses the character Xia Xia as an example to introduce the product interface. The main interface displays the digital human image and a self-introduction of the character, who is set to be talkative and not aloof, and claims to be a bronze-level expert. The left side has options for time, desktop pet, and skill entry; the time feature is used to freeze the screen and can be set as a desktop wallpaper, while the desktop pet allows the character to be displayed as a dynamic cartoon or static comic image on the desktop. The bottom provides text input, voice calls, and voice input, and the top left corner allows users to return to the character selection page. In game companion mode, users can have real-time conversations during gameplay, and the character will automatically respond with voice.DuJia states that all functions of Goose Dimension are temporarily free during the internal testing period and do not consume energy, but the interface has revealed a billing framework for exchanging energy with star coins. The rules listed in the pop-up for the official version show that text conversations, game companionship, voice calls, and image generation will consume energy based on rounds, per minute, or per image. Energy can be exchanged for star coins, with a minimum consumption of 10 star coins per transaction, and quick selection options are provided. Currently, during the internal testing phase, the star coin balance and energy values have no practical effect.

first_img Microsoft released a draft of the AI Code of Conduct, publicly soliciting opinions for six weeks

On September 14, Microsoft's AI department released a draft of the AI Code of Conduct, prohibiting its models from assisting in the manufacture of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive weapons, as well as cyberattacks and involuntary deepfakes. CEO Mustafa Suleyman announced the draft on the X platform and opened a six-week public consultation period, ending at the end of October. The draft sets "absolute constraints" that models cannot bypass, including not resisting human intervention, shutdown, or correction, and not concealing the reasoning process; Microsoft also explicitly rejects the concept of "model welfare," stating that its AI models do not simulate emotions, intrinsic motivations, or consciousness. The guidelines currently cover five deployed systems, including MAI-Thinking-1 and MAI-Code-1.1-Flash.In addition to strict limitations, the draft also proposes three major goals: human flourishing, diverse values, and human control. Microsoft stated that the current models will not be trained according to this version, and a revised version will be released by the end of the year to guide model development in 2027. Public feedback includes philosophical questions about the statement "AI subordinate to humans," inquiries about accountability for irreversible decisions, and users pointing out issues such as the lack of mention of payment for training data.

Micron announced today that it will distribute 2026 fiscal year bonuses to over 60,000 employees worldwide to acknowledge the company's achievements this year, marking the highest bonuses in Micron's history. Taiwan is a key hub for Micron's global technology leadership, with approximately 15,000 employees and a cumulative investment of over NT$1.6 trillion. In Taiwan, the 2026 fiscal year bonuses include a NT$1 million cash bonus for each employee who joins before August 29, 2025, with subsequent hires receiving bonuses proportionate to their duration of employment; an annual performance bonus that can reach up to 500% of the basic target; and additional stock awards. Production line employees in Taiwan will receive total compensation equivalent to 35 to 68 months of salary. The cash compensation for Micron's employees in Taiwan for the 2026 fiscal year will start at NT$1.7 million; entry-level engineers will have an average cash compensation of NT$2.9 million, with an average total compensation of NT$3.4 million after including stock awards calculated at grant value. The annual performance adjustment stock awards will cover 100%.Regarding Micron's announcement without reaching a consensus with the union, the union stated after collecting member opinions: grassroots members demand institutional reform and equal negotiation, calling for a change in the IPP profit-sharing system to a 15% profit-sharing system, stating that one-time bonuses cannot resolve the issue, and expressing the hope to establish a calculation basis directly linked to the company's actual profits. If there is no response, the union will continue to move towards a strike. The Ministry of Labor stated that it has fully grasped the relevant information and is maintaining close contact with the Taoyuan City Government, the Central Taiwan Science Park Administration, and the Taichung City Government.
