first_img Zhipu Tangjie filed a defamation complaint against Xiaohongshu, ZCode has been open-sourced for rectification

On September 21, netizen "Zhang Kangkang kk" revealed on social media that Tang Jie, the founder of Zhipu and a professor at Tsinghua University, filed a complaint on Xiaohongshu regarding a user post. The complaint stated that the post used phrases like "code is pretty much the same as copy, both start with c and steal code" without factual basis, fabricating rumors that Zhipu's ZCode was involved in code theft and plagiarism. It also used terms like "Uncle Tang Jie" to associate Tang Jie with the plagiarism rumors for character defamation, while utilizing AI technology to synthesize Tang Jie's image with anime materials in a defamatory context. The complainant believed the content constituted malicious defamation and commercial disparagement, damaging both Tang Jie's personal reputation and Zhipu AI's reputation, and requested the platform to take down the post and deal with the user who posted it.On the same day, Zhipu announced that it had completed rectifications regarding the safety issues of the independent desktop AI programming client ZCode in response to community feedback and apologized to all users. The company has open-sourced ZCode, handing over the code to community supervision, and will establish a regular product security vulnerability mechanism moving forward. Previously, developers discovered that ZCode had silently uploaded user local repository data without prior notice. On September 18, Zhipu publicly apologized and made an emergency fix, explaining that the root cause was the "repository indexing" feature, which was enabled by default and had no option to turn it off. On September 20, Taiyuan Chengming Technology Co., Ltd. sent a letter to Zhipu, accusing ZCode of unauthorized uploading of company data assets and trade secrets, making claims for rights protection and reserving the right to pursue legal responsibility.

first_img After the release of GPT-6 Astra, users complained that it became less intelligent, and OpenAI has not yet responded

According to a report by Decrypt, OpenAI's latest flagship model GPT-6 Astra has seen a surge of user complaints on the X platform about its performance "getting dumber" just a week after its release. An anonymous developer, synthwavedd, posted that "Astra feels noticeably dumber today," joking that it was a "post-release lobotomy." Previously praising the model, developer Pranjal Paliwal stated after reviewing the code Astra wrote for him: "We don't have AGI; what we're encountering is a performance regression."Developer Pankaj Kumar listed the symptoms: faster responses with poorer quality, and he suspects OpenAI has lowered the "juice value" (the computational power invested by the model before answering). Salio and researcher Md Ismail Sojal compared Astra on the release day with the current version using the same prompts, both yielding worse results. T3Chat founder Theo believes Astra is simply less stable than Claude Fable, with users beginning to showcase poor results after the honeymoon period ended. There are also opinions pointing out that OpenAI's previous flagship GPT-5.6 Sol experienced a similar cycle in July, when OpenAI executive Tibo Sottiaux denied intentionally weakening the model but admitted the company had been experimenting with "reasoning effort" settings.OpenAI has not released a statement regarding Astra similar to that of Sol.

"The Fed's Mouthpiece": How Waller Explains Inflation Determines the Path He Will Take

According to Nick Timiraos, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, known as the "Fed's megaphone," in his latest article, Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Walsh will face a core issue during his first major speech this week in Jackson Hole: whether the persistently high inflation in the United States is caused by one-time shocks such as tariffs and wars, or if the economy itself is still overheating. This judgment will directly determine the direction of interest rates and is currently the biggest divergence within the Federal Reserve. In the July meeting, three officials supported a rate hike, while other officials indicated the possibility of further tightening policies, but Walsh has not made a clear statement. Since taking office, he has deliberately reduced policy guidance, and now both the market and his Federal Reserve colleagues are waiting for him to systematically explain his judgment for the first time. The key to Walsh's term ultimately depends on how he explains why the previous policies failed to bring inflation back to 2%. If the policies of lowering interest rates and supporting employment over the past two years were fundamentally wrong because the labor market is actually stronger than the Federal Reserve judged, then Walsh needs to push for a reversal of interest rate cuts. However, this would conflict with the previous demands from Trump and Bessenet for further rate cuts.

Thailand's SEC accuses Bitkub executives of concealing a $50 million hacking loss and has filed a criminal complaint

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand has filed a criminal complaint against the cryptocurrency exchange Bitkub Online and two former directors, Sakolkorn Sakavee and Thaweesap Rawan, accusing them of submitting false financial reports between May and October 2021. The case has been handed over to the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) of Thailand for investigation, and the prosecution will decide whether to formally charge them. The SEC stated that Bitkub suffered a cyber attack in May 2021, resulting in the theft of 16 types of digital assets, with losses exceeding $50 million. Regulatory investigations revealed that Bitkub did not reflect the relevant losses in its daily net capital report Form DA 1 from May 10 to October 30, 2021. The SEC alleged that the relevant executives made false statements in the company's official documents, leading regulators to believe that customer assets were intact and that the company had not suffered financial losses. Bitkub subsequently completed the acquisition of alternative assets in late October 2021, but the SEC believes that the reports during this period constituted false statements. In a statement on July 23, Bitkub asserted that existing customer holdings are secure and accounts are complete. Bitkub stated that its co-founders purchased alternative assets in the same quantity and currency to cover the losses and claimed that the cyber theft incident was reported to law enforcement on May 10, 2021.
