Elliptic co-founder: Binance hacker exchanged $175 million worth of stolen altcoins for about 2,300 bitcoins
Tom Robinson, co-founder and chief scientist of Elliptic, stated that the Binance hacker has exchanged approximately $175 million worth of stolen altcoins for about 2,300 bitcoins. The related funds were transferred through 16 blockchains, over 20,000 wallets, and at least 65,000 transactions; approximately 88 bitcoins were mixed using Wasabi Wallet.
Robinson noted that the bitcoins and ethers primarily held by the hacker remain untouched. Data from Arkham Intelligence shows that as of 10 AM Eastern Time on November 7, the hacker-associated address holds 18,384.725 bitcoins, but does not show the addition of approximately 2,300 bitcoins.
