Trump acknowledged that the Iran war has dragged down the Republican Party's election prospects, but he does not regret starting the war
According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Trump stated that the war in Iran is part of the reason for the Republican Party's significant losses in the midterm elections. However, he still insists that he does not regret launching the war, even though it has dragged down his approval ratings. For months, he has been trying to end the conflict and has complained to advisors that it has become an inescapable trouble.
Trump said, "I didn't think about these things. I did the right thing. If I had to do it all over again, I would still do it." He believes that the real political burden is not the war itself, but the soaring oil prices. The conflict has led to a significant increase in gasoline and diesel prices in the U.S., causing voter dissatisfaction. He argued that voters are not rejecting the Republican Party due to dissatisfaction with the economy or accusations of corruption within the Trump administration. He also stated that he does not regret not discussing economic issues more during the campaign. Trump mentioned that he has no plans to adjust personnel within the government and expressed support for Defense Secretary Hegseth, saying, "In fact, I think he is outstanding."
