Revenue from credit card operations surged 231% year-on-year to $16.2 million, helping to offset the impact of a 38% year-on-year decline in exchange business revenue to $12.5 million. Trading volume fell from $11.3 billion to $3.8 billion year-on-year. Forecast market trading volume nearly doubled quarter-on-quarter (up 93%), contributing $500,000 in revenue. The net loss for the quarter was $107.7 million, narrowing by 19% year-on-year.
Gemini's stock price fell over 7% in after-hours trading. CEO Tyler Winklevoss stated that the company still has work to do, and the results for this quarter reflect ongoing efforts to reduce operating expenses and diversify revenue.
