A user lost 783 bitcoins due to a social engineering attack, with losses exceeding 90 million dollars

ChainCatcher news, according to on-chain detective ZachXBT disclosed on his personal channel, on August 19, 2025, a victim suffered a social engineering attack, losing 783 bitcoins (approximately $91.4 million) while being impersonated by customer service from a trading platform and a hardware wallet.

The stolen funds began to be gradually dispersed and transferred, with the attacker making multiple deposits to Wasabi. Coincidentally, this theft occurred on the one-year anniversary of the $243 million theft from Genesis creditors.
