Chen Yixin: AI may directly threaten China's security
In an article published in the official publication "China Cybersecurity" on Sunday, Chen Yixin, the Minister of the Ministry of State Security of China, stated that the rapid development of artificial intelligence may threaten political stability and critical infrastructure. The misuse of artificial intelligence by adversaries could "directly threaten China's political security, institutional security, and ideological security."
Chen Yixin also mentioned that the ability of artificial intelligence to discover system vulnerabilities and subsequently create malware or exploit these vulnerabilities is increasing. The article has been cited by foreign media such as Reuters as one of the more detailed warnings regarding artificial intelligence risks from Beijing to date.
