U.S. media: The White House plans to expand AI regulation, and open-source models may be included in the testing framework

2026-08-13 07:38:45

The Trump administration will revise the new artificial intelligence guidelines to expand regulation of AI models. The White House has developed a set of AI frameworks that require U.S. laboratories to undergo safety testing by the federal government before public release. In the coming months, this framework is expected to cover open-source models, which will be included in testing once their capabilities reach the same level as Anthropic's Mythos-level models and OpenAI's GPT-5.6.
