Cardano founder: Clause 604 of the CLARITY Act may hinder open-source innovation

2026-05-13 19:35:27

According to CoinDesk, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson stated that the removal of Section 604 of the CLARITY Act could lead to open-source developers facing long-term legal liability for others' use of their code.

He pointed out that after developers release open-source software, even if someone later abuses the code without consent, the developers could still be permanently held accountable, and he claimed this would pose a serious threat to the open-source innovation environment.
