Carl Rinsch, the director who previously directed Keanu Reeves in the 2013 film "47 Ronin," has been convicted of telecommunications fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors accused Rinsch of misappropriating $11 million received from Netflix and using part of the funds to purchase cryptocurrency.

An earlier report stated that Carl Rinsch invested $4 million of that amount in Dogecoin, ultimately profiting to $27 million, but then squandered most of the profits on luxury goods. Rinsch faces a maximum sentence of 90 years and will be formally sentenced on April 17, 2026.
